Information Security Awareness Training for Students

All Texas A&M students must complete Information Security Awareness Training annually. State law requires that institutions of higher education provide an ongoing information security awareness education program for all users of state-owned information resources (TAC §202.77).

The online training teaches you about information security, safe computing practices, and related policies, rules, and regulations. The training contains three sections and usually takes about 30 minutes to complete all three parts. To get credit for the training, you will need to pass a short quiz at the end of each section. If you fail to complete the training, you will not be able to access certain online resources such as MyRecord, Blackboard Vista (WebCT), and the Student Ticket Lottery.

We send email to a subset of students each week notifying them to take the training. Not every student is notified to take the training at the same time. If you haven't been asked to take this training yet, you will eventually be notified within the next year.
