NetSQUID is a device that watches network traffic for infected machines. If infected traffic triggers an alert, NetSQUID blocks the machine that sent the infected traffic so that it no longer has network access.
Each residence hall on campus has a NetSQUID device between the hall and the rest of the campus network. If you live in a residence hall and your machine becomes infected, your machine's network traffic will be blocked. If this happens, your machine will be redirected to a web page that states:
Once utilities are run to remove the infection and the machine is clean, the machine will be automatically unblocked by NetSQUID.
See the NetSQUID page for further information. If you experience any problems with this process, please contact Help Desk Central at 979.845.8300.
