Security Incident Reporting (SIRS)

SIRS is an electronic system for reporting incidents*, after-action, in compliance with Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) regulations. Departments are required by SAP 24.99.99.M1.09, Information Resources – Incident Management to report incidents other than routine virus/worm infections. Incidents that need to be reported are events that result, or could result, in disruption to service. A format for reporting can be found at the SIRS web site.

*The DIR definition for a Security Incidents is an event that results in unauthorized access, loss, disclosure, modification, disruption, or destruction of information resources, whether accidental or deliberate (TAC 202.1).
